ShiftWise user Robin O’Conner takes us inside her job and tells us what it’s like using the vendor management software.

SW: Where does your company staff and what type of positions does it fill?

Robin: Nightingale is a nationwide travel nurse company, Joint Commission certified.  We provide nurse staff in all 50 states. All RN, OR Tech and Dialysis travel nurses.

SW: What is your typical process of booking a candidate to an opening?

Robin: ShiftWise’s match function  is color coded. After you submit a nurse, the match button goes to orange for submit.  Once a nurse is offered and accepts, the job order shows as filled and turns blue.  There are no doubts about the offer as it has been confirmed. As to the compliance aspect, our credentials department then takes over, and can re-affirm what  credentials are required from lock to start.

ShiftWise takes a complex process, and simplifies both for our clients as well as Nightingale.

SW: How fast are you notified about open positions at your partner hospitals?

Robin: Immediately!  ShiftWise email notifications go immediately to our input department as well as the marketing team assigned to that specific client. You know the shift, start and end dates, rates and specs.

SW: Has ShiftWise improved the management of your staff credentials? How so?

Robin: Most definitely!  ShiftWise color codes our staff credentials, so you are immediately alerted if travel staff certifications are approaching expiration.

SW: What is your favorite ShiftWise feature?

Robin: This is a difficult question. ShiftWise has numerous features that assist me. From a marketing perspective, real time information.  When the job order is posted, you can view the clients specifications for that job order.  If you have any questions, you can contact the person opening the job order to get clarification.  Additionally, when you go to match to a job order, you view how many submits are on a specific job order, and reconfirm the bill rate.

We can be realistic about the value of our submission to the client. If a job order already has 15 submits, we are realistic in our expectation of locking that nurse.

SW: Your business has almost tripled within ShiftWise in the amount of orders booked over the last year. What has led to such huge growth?

Robin: A responsive management. At Nightingale, we listen to the needs of the clients and create strong partnerships with our hospitals. We focus our marketing on getting good clients and working as a team. We’re truly a big Nightingale family. It’s as the saying around here goes, “It’s a great day to be a nurse.”

SW:  A year ago, were there concerns about ShiftWise being acquired by AMN and how it would affect your business? A year later, what is your impression?

Robin: When we were first informed by ShiftWise that the acquisition would not impact our business, we believed them. Since that day it has proven to be true and ShiftWise has stuck by their (word) that they will remain vendor neutral and we love that! In our eyes nothing has changed at all since the acquisition.

 

SW: If a company is on the fence about using ShiftWise, what would you say to them?

Robin: I would say it makes good business sense. ShiftWise is a tool that was customized to cement partnerships between hospitals and agencies. Companies are not blocked from communicating directly with their partners. The software is user friendly, and has been upgraded over the years based upon customer feedback. Job orders, credentials and time tracking are user friendly. Additionally, ShiftWise has created a strong back end team that provides real time assistance and support.

SW: Now for the final and hardest question, who is your favorite superhero?

Robin: Hmmmmm, I think I’m going to go with Wonder Woman!
