You’re an experienced staffing professional, right? You’ve progressed to the step of selling a popular and impactful healthcare staffing solution, the vaunted MSP. You step into the presentation, confident in your organization’s experienced and proven core competencies… you know, providing qualified staff, exceeding fill ratio, onsite management, compliance, experience, reputation and — technology?
Wait — how confident are you in your technology?
Like others, your organization has most likely spent the better part of a decade (or multiple decades) developing the strength of your healthcare staffing organization, especially relative to others.
Circling back, when you get to the point in your presentation when asked about the platforms you run on, how confident are you in selling your technology features? Is it the angle you lead with in your presentation or rather one you tend to defend when concerns are presented to you?
Most MSPs will typically say their technology needs to be better. That’s why choosing the right VMS technology for your MSP may mean the difference between winning million dollar clients and losing out to your competitors.
Strengths, weaknesses and turning losses into wins
In a sea of multiple providers of MSPs, what are your strengths? Can you explicitly state that you nail each one? Like most, I’m sure you have received the dreaded news that, sadly, XYZ facility appreciates your proposal, yet unfortunately has elected to pursue another MSP partner.
But why?
Could it be… the technology? DING! DING! DING!
What to consider when it comes to choosing a VMS for your healthcare MSP:
- Software Functionality. Does it do what it says it does or is too many promises, not enough results?
- Document & Credential Management. Healthcare systems want to KNOW that anyone working in their facilities are in complete compliance with standards and regulations.
- Reports, Reports, Reports. MSPs often get dinged for lack of transparency. But if you can produce reports that shine a light on performance, clients will love you.
- Ease of Use. VMS should be simple to implement and use, delivering true efficiency.
- 3rd party Escrow. Let’s face it, getting paid keeps the lights on and your VMS solution should process payments fast and securely.
- Time-keeping & Invoicing. Tracking employee hours without hassle and reducing billing paperwork reduce risk and optimize use of administrative time.
- Service. Your VMS should maintain a personal relationship. It doesn’t have to be some cold, faceless technology.
- Supplier Preference. What are most suppliers already using and what do they prefer? Use a system that sub-contractors already know.
As stated above, you’re confident in your organizations ability to provide competent staff at a reasonable rate all within the standards set forth by the Joint Commission. So if your core competencies are running like a well-oiled machine, make sure the technology that supports all that is just as fine-tuned.
