Ways to Remain Vendor Neutral in a Tight Labor Market

Vendors play a huge role in the success of staffing in healthcare. It is important to strategically align the client by carefully vetting healthy vendors who can staff successfully in the specialties the client needs.

Fostering a positive relationship with the vendor will help increase response time, communication and trust which are key for success for both the vendor and client.

It is beneficial for a client to not align itself exclusively with one vendor as that can hinder or limit any future endeavors with other agencies who potentially can help the client be successful in ways the exclusive vendor might not be able to provide.

On the other hand the client doesn’t need to work with every vendor that reaches out to them but the balance of carefully vetting and researching the right vendors who can be a partner is key.

Remaining vendor neutral helps the client evaluate vendor performance based on metrics of fulfillment of client expectations and goals or if they fall short or below the client requirements.

Once the client is able to look at vendor performance and see if they measure up or not to the client needs then they can better evaluate if they want to continue working with that particular vendor or not.

By having a vendor neutral relationship it can better aid communication skills to help clear any misunderstanding or setbacks in performance. Encouraging a client to remain vendor neutral will help both parties have a positive and healthy relationship free of favoritism and impartiality.

A well-managed neutral vendor relationship will help with customer satisfaction, reduced costs, and better service from the vendor.
