10 reasons a candidate is declined from an order

in Order Management

Sometimes it can be unclear why your submitted staff was not selected for the order. Here’s a checklist that may help you understand why they were declined.

1. The resume is missing contact information such as a phone number. Managers are ready to call candidates when they open their resumes and if a contact number is not provided on the resume then at times they will be declined and move to other resumes that have a phone number so they can interview and fill the position.

2. Experience requirements per the posted order doesn’t match the resume. At times agencies don’t read an order fully regarding the required minimum experience required for a position and match a candidate who does not meet the minimum experience required to fill the role.

3. Too much time off requested in the profile. Agencies submit time off needed for the candidate in the profile which is very helpful to the manager but at times too much time off requested for a 13 week assignment might result in the profile being declined.

4. Candidate is not licensed in the state of the posted position. For positions that need an ASAP start date managers need candidates who are licensed and ready to start. If they see a profile of a candidate that is not licensed they might decline them as they are not able to wait for them to obtain licensure.

5. Lack of interview skills. It is best to have candidates be prepared for a manager to call for a phone interview and to give the candidate tips for how to be successful in an interview to make the best impression. Sometimes candidates are not prepared by not asking enough questions or discussing their work history/experience with the manager.

6. Couldn’t start in a timely manner. Managers usually need someone to start as soon as compliant or at the next orientation date if a candidate has such a far off start date their resume might be declined.

7. Can’t work scheduled shifts/not flexible with time. If a candidate is unable to be flexible or work the required shifts per the order then their resume might be declined.

8. Bill rate requested is too high. Agencies might submit a candidate with a higher bill rate than posted or need a rate that is too high for the hospital to accommodate.

9. Agency failed to upload resume when matched to order. Agencies need to make sure when they match a candidate to a position that a resume or profile is uploaded.

10. Resume missing pertinent certifications and licensure information. It is best to include all certifications such as BLS, ACLS, licensure numbers, etc. in the profile so the manager can see if they lack any required certifications per the posted order.
